G’day from Emerald,

I was away at 7am again, continuing north-west along the Warrego Highway to Chinchilla, then west to Roma, where I arrived around 9:45 after travelling 266km. I filled the tank and headed for the bakery to get some supplies for morning coffee and lunch for the remainder of the trip, as towns were few and far between along the 396km to my destination. From Roma, I travelled north along the Carnarvon Highway ’til I joined the Dawson Highway, which headed north-west again, before becoming the Gregory Highway at the village of Springsure, heading north to Emerald, where I arrived just after 3pm.

Tomorrow’s leg to Charters Towers is a shorter one, about 475km, with only one small town and a roadhouse along the route, so I think I’ll “sleep in”, and head off after filling the car and provisioning for the trip at the local bakery.
