G’day from Goondiwindi,
Left Dubbo around 7:45 this morning, with the temperature at 4 degrees. Got the “usual” for morning coffee at Coonabarabran at around 9:30am. Got a roast chicken sub for lunch from Subway in Moree at around 12:15pm. Ate it while soaking up the sun sitting on one of the benches with tables conveniently located on the footpath in the main street. By the time I was ready to head off again, it was warm enough (18 degrees) to put the top down. Arrived in Goondiwindi at about 2:15pm. I covered 504km today (592 km yesterday). I’m soaking up the warm sun again though the open door of my motel room as I compose this note.
I’ll be heading off to my hotel at Mermaid Waters (called the Mermaid Waters Hotel, would you believe?) in the morning, going via Warwick, Boonah, Beaudesert, and Nerang. The hotel is about 3km from the convention venue at the Bond University in Robina. More tales of my gastronomic adventures tomorrow!
Patrick, in answer to your question about fuel economy, I was getting about 6.6l/100km (35.6m/g) with the top up. I was travelling pretty much at a constant 100/110km/h (depending on the prevailing speed limit), except when passing through towns. There weren’t many hills, which I guess helps as well.
Cheers,
Julian
