Hello, for the last time, from Halls Gap,
I was away ’round 9, after refuelling the truck and provisioning at the Bakery. I stopped at the Boroka Lookout, and thankfully the fog that was shrouding the tops of the ranges had lifted a little, and I was able to take in the view.
From there, a did a loop around Lake Wartook, on the shores of which I took morning coffee. I then managed to piece together a circuitous route back to Halls Gap that included four 4WD tracks. There wasn’t anything particularly challenging about them; they were rough, slow going, with a maximum speed of around 20km/h (except on the soft sand of the Matthews Track), but still enjoyable. I had lunch along the Goat Track, which wasn’t as bad as the name might imply.
The highlight of the 4WD tracks was the Victoria Range Track, driving slowly through tall timber, enveloped in a light fog, with the smell of eucalyptus heavy in the air. I was back “home” around 2, after having done 175km.
Cheers,
Julian
