Greetings from Tenterfield,
I got away from Maryborough at around 7:45am, after having been delayed for a few minutes on check-out, chatting to the innkeeper. He caught me by surprise when he enquired as to whether the Shell Cove Marina had yet been built. It transpired that he had moved from Wollongong to Maryborough some 10 years ago, and we talked for a while about Wollongong, and Maryborough.
I filled the tank 30km down the Bruce Highway, at Tiaro. Some 40km further along, I turned west onto the Wide Bay Highway. It was a relief to get off the Bruce Highway, as I had been stuck behind a slow moving caravan of caravans, buses and trucks, for quite a while. At Goomeri, I headed south again along the Burnett Highway, and stopped for morning coffee in Nanango. At Yarraman, I continued south along the New England Highway. Lunch was had in Toowoomba, and the tank was filled again at Stanthorpe (fuel bill so far – $761.90!),
I arrived in Tenterfield at 2:45pm, after travelling 515km, and after checking in, went for the usual walk around town. I tried to buy some drugs, but neither of the two dealers were able to fill my prescription for Lamisil. I’m off to Taree tomorrow, and should be home on Wednesday.
Cheers,
Julian
