Kia ora from Katherine,
I had a leisurely day in and around Katherine. After visiting the local Brumby’s franchise, I headed out to Nitmiluk National Park (the site of the Katherine Gorge(s)). It was 23 degrees when I headed off. I did a 9km walk, and was totally shagged when I got back to the car. The temperature was now 30. I headed back to my motel room, had lunch, then took a nap for an hour or so, to recuperate. Here’s a couple of photos:
I then headed off to visit Leliyn (Edith Falls), further north in the Nitmiluk N.P. I declined the opportunity of a 2.6km walk in the 35 degree heat. Thankfully, photos could be taken just a couple of hundred metres from the car park. I managed to get a few shots in before a horde of Texan teenagers alighted from a bus, and swarmed all over. Every second sentence that uttered from their mouths was prefaced with “I was like…” or “It was like…”. I had a hard time restraining myself from chastising them for their mangling of the English language.
I returned to my motel room, to plan the next week of my trip, and figure out was I was going to do about my laptop’s dead power adapter.
Here’s the routes on Google Maps:
Cheers,
Julian
