Hey, from Hay,
I was out of bed by 5, after a restless night’s sleep, having woken frequently during the early hours of the morning. Despite having partially packed the Pajero the previous postmeridian, I wasn’t underway ’til 7. It was a sunny but cool start to my trip; the cloudless skies had resulted in a quite heavy frost between Robertson and Moss Vale, and the low sun was glinting off the icy grass.
I stopped in Yass ’round 9:30 for supplies, and took morning coffee just outside town. Shortly beyond, I gladly forsook the Hume Freeway at Bowning, heading through Harden-Murrumburrah, Cootamundra and Junee. I’d intended to check out the Bethungra Spiral (between “Coota” and Junee), but somehow missed the turnoff; the signs were quite obvious the last time I was along this way?
I had lunch at a park in Ganmain, between Junee and Naranderra, at 12:30, replenished the fuel tank at Naranderra, then headed off on the last leg of the day, for Hay. I was in my motel room by 3:25, having covered 641 km.
An excellent dinner was had in the Jolly Jumbuck Bistro next door, at the Riverina Hotel.
Cheers,
Julian
