G’day from Lakes Entrance,
I awoke with the sun this morning at around 6 (thanks to the absence of daylight savings), and managed to get away a tad after 7. Although it was a bit cool out, it was quite comfortable with the top down, the windows up, the “eggnisher” on 24 C and the fan on setting 2.
At about a quarter past 10, I stopped for morning coffee at a roadside rest area 6km before Narooma. I parked as far as I could from the only other person there, but bugger me if his bloody dog didn’t come up to near the table at which I was sitting, and have a shit. Luckily it was a little rat-sized mongrel, so it was a little shit.
I’d planned to have lunch in Bega, but as it was 11:30ish when I got there, I decided to delay lunch ’til I reached Eden (which would be the last place I could get lunch for a while). I arrived there at 12:15, purchased a Chicken Salad Roll, and partook of it at a rest area some 20km further on. It was “most excellent”; probably the second best Chicken Salad Roll I’ve ever had. Thankfully, there were no dogs (or people) there.
I arrived in Lakes Entrance about 3:30pm, and checked into the motel at which I’d made a reservation yesterday evening. It’s supposed to be 4-star, but it must have gone down-hill since it was last rated. After settling in, I went for a walk around town for 45 minutes or so.
Despite my reservations about the standard of the motel, I elected to have a room service dinner; the Seeded Mustard Chicken Breast was quite good.
I’ll be stopping somewhere along the Great Ocean Road tomorrow; I haven’t yet quite figured out how far I’m likely to get.
Cheers,
Julian
